Spring Training is up and running...and the Giants are looking to make a play for... Manny Ramirez? Well, this does seem like classic Giants. Hey, there is a player that is aging...Let's pretend like he is the player he once was, and sign him for a boatload of cash.
Now I'm not saying that Manny wasn't an key part of the Dodgers making it to the playoffs last year. But I don't really understand why the Giants don't openly come out and say... we are trying to start over again. We are going to stick with our key guys still under contract, and we are going to really focus on our young guys/farm system this year. Would that be too much to ask? Instead of spending that money (or more of it) on signing Randy Johnson or Manny Ramirez. Anyways, the Merc had a story on this, check it out.
